Maintaining the security of your data is a priority for Dane Valley Community Energy Limited, and we are committed to respecting your privacy rights. We pledge to handle your data fairly and legally at all times. Congleton Hydro team is also dedicated to being transparent about what data we collect about you and how we use it.

This policy, which applies whether you visit our website or subscribe to our newsletter, provides you with information about:

  • how we ensure your privacy is maintained; and

1.     What personal data do we collect from you?

Personal data is any information relating to an identifiable living individual.

Personal/contact information: We only collect very limited personal data that is needed in order to keep you informed about the Congleton Hydro project development.   More specifically we keep your name, e-mail address and the date you subscribed.

Digital information (non personal): IP addresses, and details of your interaction with our website and social media, should you engage with us through these channels.

Correspondence: information relevant to your specific enquiries.

Other: any other information you choose to provide to us.

2.     When do we collect personal data?

Information about you will be collected when you make enquiries about our activities, visit our website or subscribe to our newsletter.

3.     What is our lawful basis for processing your data?

We may only collect and process personal data where we have a lawful basis to do so.

We may collect and process your personal data when:

  • it is necessary keep you informed about the progress of the project by sending you Congleton Hydro Newsletter;
  • it is necessary for the purposes of our legitimate interests as a business. In these cases, we shall do so in a way which might reasonably be expected from our relationship with you, and which does not impact materially on your fundamental rights, freedom and interests. We will not process your personal data on this basis if we believe your rights override ours. Instead, we may seek your specific consent, and/or another legal basis;

4.     How will we use your personal data?

We may process the information we collect about you:

        to send you updates about the Congleton Hydro project for which you consent by subscribing to our newsletter mail list.

        to respond to any other enquiries or complaints we need the information you supply to enable us to respond.

        to protect our business from fraud and other illegal activities. This processing is necessary for our legitimate interests by ensuring the proper management of our business and financial risks.

        to send you communications required by law or which are necessary to inform you about changes to the services we provide you, for example, updates to this Privacy Statement, and any information legally required which relates to any contracts between us. These service messages will not include any promotional content and do not require prior consent when sent by email or text message. This processing is necessary for us to comply with my legal obligations.

        to administer our website, and send you survey and feedback requests to help improve our services. These messages will not include any promotional content and do not require prior consent when sent by email. This processing is necessary for development of our services, which is a legitimate interest of our business. We have a legitimate interest to do so as this helps make our services more relevant to you. You are free to opt out of receiving these requests from us at any time by contacting us.

5.     Google Analytics

When someone visits www.congletonhydro.co.uk we use a third-party service, Google Analytics, to collect standard internet log information and details of visitor behaviour patterns. We do this to find out things such as the number of visitors to the various parts of the site. This information is only processed in a way which does not identify any person. We do not make, and do not allow Google to make, any attempt to find out the identities of those visiting our website.

You can visit and browse our website without providing your name or contact details.

Like many websites, our server logs capture details of your operating system, browser software, IP (Internet Protocol) address and Uniform Resource Locator (URL), including the date and time of your visit.

You may choose to provide your contact details (name, email address) if you do any of these things:

        Sign up to a mailing list

        Submit a query or other information

        Ask to be contacted by us

 

6.     Mailing Lists

As part of the registration process for our newsletter, we collect personal information. We use that information for a couple of reasons: to tell you about stuff you’ve asked us to tell you about; to contact you if we need to obtain or provide additional information; to check our records are right and to check every now and then that you’re happy and satisfied. We don't rent or trade email lists with other organisations and businesses.

     7.     How long will we keep your data?

We shall only keep your personal data for as long as is necessary to provide our services, or for as long as we reasonably need to keep the information for the lawful business purposes or to comply with a statutory or other legal requirement.

8.     Data security

We take appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect the personal data we store or otherwise process against accidental or unlawful destruction, loss, alteration or unauthorised disclosure or access. 9.     Access to your personal information

You are entitled to view, amend, or delete the personal information that we hold. If you want to do so, please email your request to admin@congletonhydro.co.uk .

10. Your rights

You may exercise your rights by contacting us using the details in Contact section, below. We aim to handle any requests within a reasonable period and, in any event, within one calendar month of the original request.
